Event description

Description

Unlike the charted southern coastline, the interior of Victoria was unknown to Europeans until Hamilton Hume and William Hovell travelled overland from Sydney in 1824. This talk explores the fraught relationship between Hume, a skilful bush traveller and keen explorer, with Hovell, who although a capable navigator, lacked experience in this new environment.
