Dolphin Discovery
Overview
Become marine mammal scientists with the Marine Mammal Foundation in our Dolphin Discovery school holiday program! Learn about the incredible marine mammal diversity of Victoria’s coastline including dolphins, seals and whales. Explore how Marine Mammal Foundation scientists study these incredible animals, learn how we can identify individual dolphins through their dorsal fin nicks and notches, and design your very own dolphin! Discover how we can all make a difference to protect and conserve our amazing marine environments, while at home, at school, or at the beach. Get hands on with real artefacts, including dolphin skulls and whale bones, see unique images and underwater footage, and head below the surface of the water and hear the incredible sounds of dolphin echolocation and whale song. This engaging and exciting program is fun for all ages, and is an opportunity not to be missed!

About:
Now in its 30th year, Summer by the Sea offers fun, educational activities along Victoria’s coastline. With the 2026 theme ‘The coast, the sea, and our community’, the program gives people the chance to explore our coastal and marine environments and learn how to help protect them for future generations.
Proudly supported by Coastcare Victoria and the Victorian Government, activities are delivered in partnership with environmental organisations and led by friendly, experienced, first aid–trained hosts.
