DojoCon Australia Optional Session, 11am - 12pm

How to Build An App That People Want, And Can Actually Use with Chris Nurse and Mike Fuller

Location

Loneragan Computer Lab. See Event Map.

About this Session

In 2015 Chris began building a music app called QikJam, a band that plays along with you as you strum guitar, but its complicated to use, so Mike will ask the question, “How might we make QikJam fun and easier to use”, then together we will design the next version of QikJam!

What will kids do:

1.Gain an insight into how musical instruments integrate with technology to create new possibilities.
2. They can get hands on and play the guitar to connect to the concept and understand the purpose of the app.
3. They will be confronted by a complex user interface, and see what it’s like to build an app, but then face the challenge of making it easy to use.
4. They will do paper prototypes based on what features of the app they feel are important, and decide what the app will look like.
5. They will receive credit for designing the next prototype user interfaces as we move towards releasing QikJam into the world.

Who is this Session for?

Ninjas (young people aged 7-17) who want to learn how to use technology to make music.
