Event description

Description

Are you an educator, facilitator, champion or mentor for young people, and have been wanting to explore the world of Raspberry Pis?

Raspberry Pis are cheap, credit-card sized computers that have been used all around the world to help young people learn about coding and computing.

As they are very affordable and can be used for a range of hands-on projects, Raspberry Pis are great for educators and facilitators who want to help young people developing coding and 21st century skills.

At this session you will get a very basic introduction into Raspberry Pis, and you will then get to play around with some Raspberry Pi projects. This will increase your confidence and help get you on your way to exploring Raspberry Pis in future.

Absolute beginners are encouraged and welcome. You do not need to have any prior knowledge of coding, computing or Raspberry Pis to attend this session, but you should be interested in learning.

A light lunch will be provided including options for vegans, vegetarians, gluten free, halal etc.

WHO IS THIS SESSION FOR?

Please note that this meetup is designed for educators, facilitators, champions and mentors of young people. It’s a session where we will power up our own knowledge and confidence so that we can introduce and extend our use of Raspberry Pis when we are helping young people. CoderDojo WA Champions, Mentors and Black Belt Ninjas are welcome. If you have a child/children they are welcome but you must supervise them.

PARKING AND PUBLIC TRANSPORT

The easiest way to get to the Meeting Place is using public transport. The Blue CAT goes past us - we're smack bang in the middle of stops 8 adn 9. For other public transport options and to plan your journey, check out the Transperth website.

Parking around the centre is primarily street parking, with very limited off-street parking available. While parking in South Fremantle isn't paid, there are still time limits, so check the signage before you park. 'All-day' parking is available on Jenkin Street along the Biscuit Factory apartments, and on Marine Terrace along the train line.
