NEW: Meal voucher system for Easter Friday dinner (1700-1900) and Saturday lunch (1300-1500) - MEAL SERVICE TO PROCEED, SALES EXTENDED TO THURSDAY 13 APRIL
The ACT government has designated the whole Easter Long Weekend as public holiday rates. The venue have communicated to us that due to their costs structures they will be unable to offer hot food service and open the Fellows room unless we commit to at least 140 people per meal. Breakfast will be available as part of normal hotel operations.
We believe there are two keys meals for the Doeberl players on this weekend that cannot be easily sourced elsewhere – Easter Friday dinner (1700-1900) and Saturday Lunch (1300-1500). A single ticket at $40 covering both of these meals including a drink is now available here.
You will have a choice of the following - note that each day has a vegetarian offering.
Easter Friday Dinner 14/4/17 (17.00-19.30)
- Roast Pork Loin with roasted root vegetables and thyme jus
- Beer Battered Flathead fillets with chips and garden salad
- Spinach and Ricotta Tortellini with tomato and basil
Saturday Lunch 15/4/17 (13.00-15.00)
- Chicken Schnitzel with chips and garden salad
- Massaman Beef Curry with steamed rice and garden salad
- Stir Fried Hokkien noodles Asian greens and hoisin sauce
Thank you to everyone who has purchased meal vouchers so far - as the tournament organisers we have decided to underwrite the minimum 140 vouchers. This means that even if we do not reach minimum sales numbers, these two meals will still go ahead as planned.
We still encourage all attendees and accompanying family to purchase meal vouchers online.
The venue has been very supportive through the sponsorship of the playing rooms and we believe that the ANU is a good long term home for the tournament. Please support us in making this happen.

About the Doeberl Cup
The Doeberl Cup is the longest running weekend chess event in Australia. Since 1963 it has been held every year in Canberra, Australia. Grandmaster Ian Rogers holds the record for the most number of wins (either outright or on tie-break) with 12.
The Doeberl Cup was named after its primary sponsor, Erich Doeberl. The family tradition of sponsoring the tournament continues today with Rosemarie Doeberl providing support for her father's vision.
