Event description
If you care about impact, you need to care about evaluation! This workshop focuses on measuring and evaluating your impact.

About this event

Join us for a full-day workshop to gain a better understanding of how to tell your story of impact.

This workshop is for filmmakers and impact producers with a project nearing completion or in outreach phase, who have an understanding of their impact campaign and strategies for change.

During these sessions, Dr. Mitzi Goldman (CEO) and Clara Williams Roldan (Impact and Education Director) will explore evaluation approaches, defining outcomes and indicators, and selecting and developing data collection tools. These skills not only help you tell your story of impact, but are also an important aspect of fundraising and partnership management.

We will take you through case studies, resources and templates to help you workshop your project.

You should leave the workshop with an understanding of how to approach evaluation and the beginning of your own evaluation plan.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How It Works:

This is a digital workshop. Before the workshop, registered filmmakers will receive an email with a link to join the webinar.

Throughout the session filmmakers will get the opportunity to interact with other filmmakers and receive further resources.

The workshops are designed to leave attendees with a number of takeaways essential to developing effective impact evaluation plans.

These workshops can be taken individually, or by a film team to gain:

  • A clearer understanding of evaluation and how to approach the evaluation of your documentary's impact
  • Insight into the best way to select outcomes and indicators to accurately measure impact.
  • The ability to effectively communicate the social impact your project is creating.
  • Access to a number of impact and evaluation resources to better prepare your evaluation plan.

These workshops were developed with the support of Screen NSW.

Organiser Documentary Australia Foundation

Organiser of Documentary Evidence Workshop

Documentaries inform, inspire and engage.

Real stories provoke empathy, change minds, influence behaviour and bring communities together to catalyse systemic change.

Documentary Australia is Australia’s only not-for- profit organisation that promotes social change through documentary storytelling.

We raise awareness, create empathy and inspire action on important social issues.

By connecting independent documentary filmmakers with likeminded funders, individuals and organisations on the front-lines of social change, we amplify the issues in documentaries to encourage compassion, activism and social transformation.

Over the last ten years, over $24 million has been raised for powerful impact documentaries across a broad range of issues.

This has allowed audiences to engage with films that inspire change across our seven issue areas:

- Environment

- Health + Wellbeing

- Human Rights + Social Justice

- Indigenous

- The Arts

- Women + Girls

- Youth + Education
