The people of Dudley Flats

The 8km square zone west of Melbourne, known today as Docklands, was once a Shanty town called Dudley Flats, formed during the Great Depression. Join Melbourne writer David Sornig, as he explores the fascinating stories of struggle and success in the tip-scavenging economy of Dudley Flats.

David Sornig is a Melbourne writer. His essay ‘Jubilee: A Hymn for Elsie Williams on Dudley Flats’ was a finalist for the 2015 Melbourne Prize for Literature Writers Prize, and his subsequent work on Blue Lake was supported by a State Library of Victoria Creative Fellowship.

Bookings essential.
