Description

*This show requires a minimum of 40 pre-sale tickets in order to go ahead. Please book in advance and spread the word to help make this show happen!

After four sold out Hobart concerts in 2018 and 2019, Harry Edwards and Charlie McCarthy are excited to bring their latest Django & Grappelli tribute show to Queenstown for this special event.

Legendary guitarist Django Reinhardt and virtuoso violinist Stephane Grappelli were two of the most influential musicians of the 20th Century. The musical style of the "Hot Club of France" defined a genre and was the soundtrack of Europe's emerging string jazz scene for decades.

Hobart based gypsy jazz musicians Harry Edwards (lead guitar), Charlie McCarthy (violin), and Isaac Gee (double bass) will perform two 45 minute sets of Hot Club of France favourites, with a focus on the original compositions of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli.

Expect to hear popular tunes such as 'Django's Castle,' 'Douce Ambiance,' and 'Swing 42,' as well as more obscure and stylistically eclectic compositions such as 'Django's Waltz,' 'Anouman,' and 'Impromptu.'

Here are some clips from a sold out performance at the Salamanca Arts Centre, Hobart in 2018.

The concert will be interspersed with stories and legends of Django's adventures.

Bar will be provided, with drinks, snacks & refreshments available before the show and at the interval.

*Doors from 7.30pm. Show starts at 8pm and will consist of 2 x 45 minute sets with an interval.
