Event description

Description

*This is a seated show with limited capacity. As such, only 100 tickets are available. *

Legendary guitarist Django Reinhardt and virtuoso violinist Stephane Grappelli were two of the most influential musicians of the 20th Century. The musical style of the "Hot Club of France" defined a genre and was the soundtrack of Europe's emerging string jazz scene for decades.

Hobart based gypsy jazz musicians Harry Edwards (lead guitar) and Charlie McCarthy (violin) will perform two 45 minute sets of Hot Club of France favourites, with a chronological focus on repertoire from 1934 - 1940.

Expect classics such as 'Minor Swing, 'Dinah,' and 'Nuages.' Harry and Charlie will be joined by Felicity Lovett (rhythm guitar), and Isaac Gee (double bass), for a fun night of swinging hot gypsy jazz.

Here are some clips from a sold out performance at the Salamanca Arts Centre, Hobart in 2018.

The concert will be interspersed with stories and legends of Django's adventures.

Bar will be provided, with drinks, snacks & refreshments available before the show and at the interval.

*Doors from 7.30pm. Show starts at 8pm and will consist of 2 x 45 minute sets with a 20 minute interval.

*This event is contingent on minimum ticket sales of 30 seats by 11/03/2019. In the event of cancellation due to insufficient ticket sales, refunds will be issued in full.*
