Last Minute Productions/Studio Redfern Community Centre and DJ NINO BROWN present a Free 10 week face to face DJ introductory course held at Redfern Community Centre.
Student Requirements to participate in course:
Bring Own Laptop, Headphones & Download Serato software to device.

Introduction to learning to DJ.
* What is a DJ ?
* How do you DJ
* Orientation
* Format & Equipment & Software
( Vinyl / CDs / MP3/ Wavs into Turntables, controllers, CDJs)
* Setting up Equipment
WEEK 2
* Music Structure & relationship to DJing
* From simple to more intricate.
* How Hip-Hop impacted DJing and equipment
WEEK 3
* Cueing/ triggering techniques
* Beat mixing tips and tricks
* Counting beats per minute ( track bpm )
* Learn to listen not look
WEEK 4
* The power of programming. ( Music & set preparation)
* Knowing your crowd, how to read the room.
WEEK 5
* Advanced mixing.
* Using the technology, using EQ, loops, Quick Mix, Smooth Mix, Drop Mixing, blends & more.
* Incorporate these into your sets, and which is best for what effect – ambiance, excitement, energy & more.
WEEK 6
* Scratching
* Basic scratch techniques ( baby scratch )
* How to incorporate scratching into sets.
WEEK 7
* Trick Mixing – adding some visual remixing techniques into your arsenal!
WEEK 8
* Recording your mix – judging your progress making a mixtape
* How to record your mix.
* Identify your strengths and weaknesses. Working on weaknesses.
WEEK 9
* Social Media / Presentation & professionalism ( Should you take requests and when

MEET NINO BROWN
From the beginning of his career, Brown has been committed to becoming a great DJ both in playlist and technique. His commitment and determination to the art form saw him signed to Universal Music, where he created the Blazin’ Mixtape series which has gone on to become the biggest urban music compilation in the country, with sales in excess of half a million copies. His long standing relationship with Universal Music saw Brown recently start a record label called Digital Dope Music, which is a platform for him to release new original music.
COVID INFORMATION
All LMP Staff will ensure social distancing and capacity must not exceed one person per 2 square metres of space in indoor areas of the premises and one person per 2 square metres of space in outdoor areas of the premises.
LMP staff will remind people that a condition of entry to the building is that attendees maintain 2 square metres and social distance as part of their introduction to attendees. Face masks must be worn by staff and facilitators and program participants while in indoor areas, unless exempt.
Safe distancing spots are installed on the floor for areas outside the lift and bathrooms where a queue may occur.
Seating will also be designated for LMP staff and studio users to help maintain 2 square metre and social distance.
Last Minute Productions have confirmed with Redfern Community Centre that conditions of entry are displayed at the entry to the building.
The conditions include that people may not enter if they feel unwell and they must provide contact details for the purposes of contact tracing.
Processes are in place to ensure that people provide the required contact information, such as by checking phones for the green tick to confirm they have checked in (keeping 1.5m physical distance between staff and patrons).
QR codes should be clearly visible and accessible including at entrances to the premises.
