Event description

Description

This one-day symposium aims to discuss and highlight recent trends, barriers and solutions, and practical approaches to safe diving for science and archaeology commonly referred to as ‘Scientific Diving’. It targets a delegation of researchers and higher education professionals, university / institutional dive safety officers and health and safety professionals working in support of research, hyperbaric medical experts, policy makers and regulators. Australian and international perspectives are sought and will be discussed within the current context of the current revision to Standards and Regulations in Australia that impact the Scientific Diving community.

Abstracts are sought from individuals working professionally and with experience in diving for science and archaeology. We aim to address the current themes and seek to focus on diver safety and appropriate training and management techniques.

Invited speakers will include:

  • A/Prof. Fraser Sturt, Southampton University, United Kingdom

  • Simon Talbot, Dive Safety Officer, University of Tasmania

If you are interested in speaking, please submit a proposed title and abstract (250 word max) by July 1st 2017 to: diving@flinders.edu.au

Replies to submissions will issued by late July.
