Over the last decade, the conversation about diversity and inclusion has moved to the forefront like never before, particularly in realms of literature. So how important is diversity representation and inclusion? How far have we come over the years with inclusivity?
In successfully appearing as special guests for the Diversity in Infinite Worlds panel for the recent virtual convention: InCONCeivable, bloggers Annie McCann, Ally Gil and Maisie Dickson come together once again to discuss discuss diversity representation, own voice and inclusion in the realms of books and graphic novels.

Annie McCann
Annie McCann is an Indonesian/Australian, Muslim and the founder of Read3r'z Re-Vu, Network of Readers, est. 2009. Annie is an emcee, blogger, emerging writer and is often found either reading fantasy fiction that’s inspired by mythology and cultural legends, watching NRL football or jamming to hip hop or Michael Jackson. Annie is a winner of the Penguin, Write It! Fellowship 2019: a program seeking new diverse voices and is in the process of writing her first own voice, urban fantasy novel for young readers. Diversity and inclusivity is something Annie holds very close to her heart and for 11 years, she has worked to connect a diverse community through the bond of reading, writing and creativity.

Ally Gil
Ally Gil is a Latina book blogger who enjoys reading all forms of books including but not limited to: fictions, nonfiction, manga, comics and graphic novels! When she isn’t reading she is busy trying to not to procrastinate with prepping for her Dungeon and Dragon’s campaign. Ally is big promoting indie and BIPOC voices in the reading landscape. Maisie Dickson
Maisie Dickson (she/her) is a grey ace content creator and storyteller who lives in regional Australia, she writes short stories, such as A Goddess’s Worth on the Elephant Ladder, and when not reading, she creates videos on her YouTube channel, SleepyWiredStudios. Diversity to her means reading about and from the perspective of people who have different experiences, cultures and learning more about them. Diversity means that everyone gets to see themselves in a character, on screen, in music or in a book.
