Cyber Security: Don’t Forget the SME
Take up of digital services by small and medium business is on a rise and a large portion of Australia’s business community are small to medium businesses.
The Australian Federal Government speaks of Cyber Security at a National level, and key points from the Government are a strategy, workforce and budget in regards to cyber security.
Small to medium businesses do not maintain nor can afford to silo cyber security services in the business.  With the current mandatory data breach notification to be executed on the 22nd February 2018, any organisation above $3 Million in revenue will need to take a more proactive measure with security in their business.
While this is the case for a business of this revenue criteria, all businesses should be doing their best to protect their customer information.  Technology alone will not help.
This presentation outlines the current state of security for small businesses, the vulnerabilities and threats and what the future holds and considerations for securing ourselves like the bigger organisations in Australia.
