Event description

Description

Session 1 Building a Data Lake on AWS.
A data lake is an increasingly popular way to store and analyse information that addresses the challenges of dealing with massive volumes of heterogeneous data. A data lake allows organisations to store all their data, both structured and unstructured, in one centralised repository. Because data can be stored as-is, there is no need to convert it to a predefined schema. In this session we'll look at how you can use Amazon S3 as the storage tier for your Data Lake, AWS Glue to perform Extract, Transform and Load operations on your data, and Amazon Athena to perform queries.

Speaker: Greg Sporton Partner Solutions Architect, Amazon Web Services, Melbourne
Bio: Prior to joining AWS, Greg spent 8 years with Cisco, and a further 15 years in the IT industry working for a number of large customers and system integrators in deployment, design and presales roles. Greg is a qualified electrical mechanic, and has a passion for networking, having held his CCIE for 15 years.
