About this Event

Wendy Brooks & Partners in partnership with Westpac invites you to the final compelling event in our 2019 Disruptive Ideas Forum series:

Collaboration in Practice

Collaboration and systems change are becoming pillars of social change and philanthropic practice. Yet, organisational constraints and competition for funding are a reality of the current not-for-profit sector. Are these concepts affecting the way organisations are working together, and is this leading to impact? Why, when and how should we overcome these constraints?

We will primarily focus on horizontal collaboration, where organisations in a similar space work together, rather than vertical collaboration, where the collaboration is based on separate areas of expertise and often easier to achieve.

The Disruptive Ideas Forum lunch will explore questions such as:

• Are not-for-profits being incentivised to go in alone?

• What are the barriers to forming effective collaborations? How are organisations overcoming these barriers?

• How can we make collaboration more deliberate between not-for-profits and break down silos?

Our first panellist is Kevin Robbie, founder of Think Impact. Kevin will speak from an expert perspective about collaboration challenges, how to overcome them and his experience building sector partnerships and collaborative leadership between organisations.

Our second speaker is Aileen Ashford, CEO of Kids First. Aileen will lend a practitioner angle to the discussion and speak about the important role collaboration played in launching the Caring Dads program in Victoria. Aileen will reflect on the decision to collaborate, how partnerships are integral to the program’s success and the process of applying for funding.

A light lunch and refreshments will be served.

The Disruptive Ideas Forum event is free. The team at Wendy Brooks & Partners is dedicated to building capacity of a not-for-profit and social sector that creates positive and lasting impact.
