Event description

Description

  • Are you concerned about the safety and wellbeing of people who might be more vulnerable in a disaster?

  • Do you have any ideas about how we can support people to be more resilient through emergencies?

Red Cross is running a project to identify how we can collectively improve the safety and wellbeing of those most at-risk when disaster threatens. If you are an individual or organisation that works with or represents those most at-risk, we encourage you to get involved and have your say at this upcoming workshop.

The Disaster resilience in at-risk communities project aims to:-

  • Bring parties together to grow understanding of disaster risk and resilience, by building on existing knowledge, projects and research.
  • Discuss how we can work together to support and strengthen disaster resilience in at-risk communities.
  • Capture this information in a framework under the State Emergency Management Plan.
  • Progress an implementation plan that maps out how we can take the framework into action.
  • Develop tools and resources that support action in different sectors and organisations.

Please note, this workshop is only for organisations and individuals whom support and/or works with those most at-risk and is not intended for individual community members.

If you are unable to attend this workshop but want to be kept up to date, please contact Anne Ellis (aellis@redcross.org.au) or Michael Arman (marman@redcross.org.au) to be placed on the project mailing list.

Light lunch and refreshments provided, please advise of any dietary requirements.
