This session covers some of the important “legal side” of harnessing social media to benefit you and your creative practice.

About this event

Do you use Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest or Tumblr or a website? Putting your copyright and your ideas online is an opportunity that can backfire spectacularly if your work is infringed. This session covers some of the important “legal side” of harnessing social media to benefit you and how to protect your work, including delving into the fine print of those platforms.

Where - Online! This event will be held via Zoom. You will be able to access the link on the online events page after you have registered.

Cost - This workshop is free but registration via Eventbrite is essential. You must register to access the workshop link.

WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?

Come along if you are a creative freelancer, an established practitioner or run an arts organisation. Curious hobbyists, recent graduates and emerging creatives are also welcome to attend!

This workshop is open to anyone who lives, works, studies or plays in the City of Ryde.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Once you’ve registered for this event, you will be able to access information about how to login and access the webinar by viewing the online event page. You’ll also be sent reminder links from Eventbrite prior to the workshop.

You’ll need access to a stable internet connection and a computer, laptop or tablet to participate in the workshop. We don’t recommend using a phone due to the small screen size.

Suzanne Derry, Director, National Partnerships and Programs & Senior Solicitor at Arts Law

Suzanne Derry is the Senior Solicitor at the Arts Law Centre of Australia, where she has worked for over 10 years. Suzanne has worked for a number of community legal centres and a boutique entertainment law practice. Suzanne enjoys educating artists about their rights and providing practical advice across a range of arts areas.

Arts Law is Australia’s national community legal centre for the arts. For 30 years, they have provided the creative community with legal advice, education, resources and advocacy to help build stronger arts practices. Their mission is to empower artists through the law.

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS FOR CREATIVES

This workshop is part of a series of free professionally run workshops teaching business and professional skills to creatives in the City of Ryde. These workshops are an opportunity to get expert advice and meet other local creatives.
