About this event
Grants, funding, awards, and scholarships are often held up as the holy grail of a successful arts career, but this revenue stream also takes hard work and patience. Learn the basics of writing, winning, and acquitting your funding, as well as putting together a grant folder for future funding.
We’ll also look at implementing a research plan to stay up to date and creating a strategy for success.

Cost - This workshop is free but registration via Eventbrite is essential. You must register to access the workshop link.
WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?
Come along if you are a creative freelancer, an established arts practitioner or run an arts organisation. Curious hobbyists, recent graduates and emerging creatives are also welcome to attend!
This workshop is open to anyone who lives, works, studies or plays in the City of Ryde.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Once you’ve registered for this event, you will be able to access information about how to login and access the webinar by viewing the online event page. You’ll also be sent reminder links from Eventbrite prior to the workshop. You’ll need access to a stable internet connection and a computer, laptop or tablet to participate in the workshop. We don’t recommend using a phone due to the small screen size.
WORKSHOP FACILITATOR
Monica Davidson, Director of Creative Plus Business Group
Monica Davidson is an award-winning expert on the creative industries, who began her professional life as a freelance journalist and filmmaker. In 2014 Monica completed her Masters degree in Screen Arts and Business at AFTRS, and was appointed as the first NSW Creative Industries Business Advisor by the Department of Industry. Shortly after she founded the social enterprise Creative Plus Business, which is dedicated to educating creative people about small business and marketing skills. In 2019, Monica was awarded the QUT Creative Enterprise Australia award for being a Creative Trailblazer that “advocates, mentors, donates, educates and advises within Australia’s creative economy”. Monica continues to work as a writer, filmmaker and occasional performer.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS FOR CREATIVES
This workshop is part of a series of free professionally run workshops teaching business and professional skills to creatives in the City of Ryde. These workshops are an opportunity to get expert advice and meet other local creatives.
