Event description
Participate in this DTA Working Group to explore how Digital Sourcing Specialists can add strategic value to an agency's outcomes.

About this Event

The DTA’s Digital Sourcing Centre of Excellence invites government sourcing practitioners to participate in the next Working Group - Working with Digital Sourcing Specialists as Strategic Partners.

These working groups are designed to address a specific sourcing challenge or opportunity, as identified by user research, and deliver useful and used outcomes to help solve them.

A brief topic overview is below, and a more detailed Topic Summary and Working Group Framework will be provided at the session.

Attending this session does not commit you to the Working Group. You will have the opportunity to explore and shape the problem and discuss possible outcomes before committing to being part of the ongoing group. Your input will be valued, even if you decide not to continue.

Working Group Topic Overview

DTA research indicates that there is a need for digital sourcing to be treated as a specialist function for better outcomes and strategic value to be achieved. Digital sourcing capability is a key strategic asset, and yet digital sourcing skills are undervalued because sourcing is considered transactional, not strategic.

Digital sourcing capabilities are often engaged too late and are siloed within the organisation. This creates unnecessary challenges and a poor perception of the sourcing discipline, with specialists often being seen as blockers, rather than strategic partners.

To fully realise the strategic value that digital sourcing specialists can bring to the successful outcomes of business activities, there is a need for a better understanding, appreciation and utilisation of digital sourcing capabilities within agencies.

Arrival and Check-In

Please arrive at 50 Marcus Clarke Street Canberra City 10-15 minutes prior to the start time as you will need to sign in with security and be escorted to the DTA offices. Parking is particularly limited in our vicinity, so we strongly recommend catching a Taxi or Uber.

Note: This event is for current government employees only at this time. You will need a ‘.gov.au’ email address to attend.
