Event description

Description

DH Downunder is a low cost one-week bootcamp where participants will learn a variety of digital skills. While some of the classes are aimed more at students and researchers, there are plenty of classes that are very relevant for anyone who wants to learn some programming or other digital skills and make themselves more marketable in today's workforce. Unless otherwise stated, all classes are aimed at complete beginners.

'Intro to code' is a half-day computer programming class for people with no background in programming; and if you enjoy that, there's 'intermediate programming' later in the week.

Project management, taught by Lynne Siemens, an international expert in entrepreneurship and small business, is also very suitable for anyone wanting to improve their resume and get better at tracking any kind of project, from home renovations through to complex work tasks.

Data analysis fluency is a great class for anyone who would like to learn about the fundamentals of collecting data, cleaning it, transforming it into different formats, and storing it.

The classes shown in the program below are scheduled parallel to each other, so only one class in each morning and afternoon slot can be taken! Some classes, like Intro to Code, or Mapping Humanities, are a half day; others are a full day (e.g. Project Management, Data Analysis Fluency), or two or three days (Digital Ethnography or Linked data.
