Overview

Learn about the online platforms that really influence customer decisions—and how small businesses can use them effectively.

Not sure which digital platforms matter most for your business? This practical workshop shows you how major platforms work together and where to focus for real results.

During the 2-hour session, we break down how customers find, research, and choose businesses online using today’s most important digital channels, including:

  • Your business website – turning visitors into enquiries
  • Google Search & Google Maps (Google Business Profile) – getting found when people are actively looking
  • Social media (Facebook & Instagram) – building visibility, trust, and credibility
  • Email marketing – staying connected and driving repeat business
  • Online reviews – influencing decisions and building trust
  • Paid advertising (Google Ads) – when they work, and when to avoid them

You will learn how these platforms fit together in a simple customer journey, what to prioritise, and what you can safely ignore.

You’ll leave with:

  • A clear understanding of which platforms suit your business
  • A simple, realistic marketing plan
  • Practical improvements you can make immediately
  • Confidence in where to spend your time and money

This workshop is designed for small business owners and entrepreneurs looking for clarity and simple strategies to market their business effectively.

The workshops are delivered by State Library of Queensland's Regional Digital Development project supported by the Department of Customer Service, Open Data and Small and Family Business.
