Difficult Conversations
Overview
We have all been awed by someone who always seems to know what to say and how to say it, in any situation. This competency is important in all areas of life. The ability to communicate with diplomacy and tact strengthens leadership by helping us manage change, negotiate and compromise, resolve conflicts, gain consensus and collaboration, and create a cohesive team.
Yet for many people, face-to-face communication, especially when it becomes confrontational, is deeply uncomfortable. In fact, it remains one of the most common human fears. As the world continues to move at a fast pace, we are increasingly required to produce impromptu responses, a transition that many find challenging. We have all seen question-and-answer sessions spin out of control, leaving an otherwise strong presentation ending on a confusing and sometimes confrontational note.
At the completion of this workshop, participants will be able to handle confrontational questions and situations in a confident and diplomatic way, speak honestly and tactfully, stay in control, and use a proven responding method to help others find common ground when holding opposing viewpoints. The result is clearer conversations, stronger relationships, and greater confidence when it matters most.
