Diabetes management for Health Professionals is a webinar series delivered in three two-hour sessions for Registered Nurses, Endorsed Enrolled Nurses and Allied Health Professionals working in general practice, aged care, rural health, community and hospitals. Registration is for all three webinars only.

The webinar offers an interactive learning environment that supports participants to develop their skills in effective diabetes management. It is delivered by a Registered Nurse - Credentialled Diabetes Educator (CDE) and Dietitian from Diabetes Queensland utilising Webinar Conferencing Systems.

The webinar conferencing system allows the Diabetes management for health professionals program to be shared with locations around Queensland. It provides for real-time multicast communications from Diabetes Queensland to Health Professional registrants.

The program will be broadcast from the Diabetes Queensland training rooms utilising a combination of power point presentations, voice and video chat as well as text based messages to facilitate learning and the development of knowledge and skills.

Once registered, participants will receive a program workbook and instructions for accessing the webinar session. A pre-course knowledge questionnaire will be provided electronically.

Following the three webinar sessions, participants will complete a post-course knowledge questionnaire and process evaluation before being provided a Certificate of Attendance from Diabetes Queensland.

The course includes:

  • An overview of the pathophysiology of diabetes and current diabetes classifications
  • Current diabetes prevention and detection strategies
  • Supporting self-management for the person with diabetes
  • Healthy eating & physical activity recommendations
  • Self Monitoring of Blood Glucose (SMBG)
  • Glucose lowering medication
  • Insulin management
  • Hypoglycaemia/Hyperglycaemia
  • Sick days plans
  • Complications screening and prevention
  • Emotional well-being
  • National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS)

This workshop is endorsed by ACN according to our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Endorsed Course Standards. It has been allocated 8 CPD hours according to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia – Continuing Professional Development Standard.

This activity has been endorsed by APNA according to approved quality standards criteria for 8 hours.

PLEASE NOTE: Only one tax invoice per registration is provided, including registration for multiple attendees. For individual tax invoices it is recommended to register individually.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Your registration is refundable up until 48 hours prior to the event, after this unfortunately fees are not refundable due to the cost of administration.
