SA is also proud to host the National DHAA Ltd Annual General Meeting

Dental caries – a new paradigm - There is a lot more to hypomineralisation than MIH

David has spent 30 years in private practice and academia, and is currently the Elsdon Storey Chair of Child Dental Health and a visiting consultant at RCH. He is involved in several collaborative and postgraduate research projects in both paediatric dentistry and orthodontics. Graduated BDSc (Melb) in 1984 and worked in general practice until 1991 when he undertook an MDSc in Paediatric Dentistry. He was dental advisor to the Federal Government from 1994 – 1996 and won the KG Sutherland Prize of the RACDS in 2007. He is on the editorial boards of the European Archives on Paediatric Dentistry and the International Journal of Paediatric Dentistry, and the advisory panel (board) of the European Caries Research Association (ORCA).

 Over the past 15 years David has spoken throughout Australia, Asia and Europe and has wide ranging experience in laboratory and clinical trials of CPP-ACP, Minimum Intervention Dentistry, the detection of carious lesions, developmental defects of enamel and the use of calcium silicates in endodontics. He has published more than 100 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and has been cited more than 2000 times in the last 5 years.

He is getting grumpy in his old age and is looking forward to returning to agricultural pursuits.

Dr Simon Freezer - Orthodontist, President ASO

Forensics - Victim Identification - Computerised Forensic Facial Reconstruction

Simon was born in Tasmania and came to Adelaide in to study Dentistry in 1976. After graduating as a dentist in 1980 he returned to Tasmania to work in the School Dental Service and later in private dental practice in Hobart.After two years of general practice he was accepted into the Adelaide orthodontic postgraduate programme and in 1982 commenced his specialist training, graduating two years later in 1984.Since that time he has worked mainly in private practice, largely in the Adelaide’s southern suburbs. He has maintained an affiliation with the University of Adelaide over many years as a postgraduate clinical tutor and more recently as a research supervisor.He was awarded the P R Begg Research Award by the Australian Society of Orthodontists, and maintained had an interest in research over many years. He has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and presented both in Australia and overseas.His current research centres on the applications of 3D facial and cranio-facial computer modelling. This includes using techniques to predict facial change from orthodontic treatment as well as forensics, facial reconstruction and victim identification.He has also been active in the ASO and is currently the State President of the SA Branch of the ASO having previously held numerous positions in the ASO at both State and Federal levels.

Dr Theo Athanasiadis MBBS, PhD, FRACS, Laryngologist

"What snoring does to a child's brain"

Dr Athanasiadis undertook his Otolaryngology training in South Australia and received a PhD in wound healing. He was fortunate to receive the Marjorie Hooper Travelling Scholarship from the RACS allowing him to complete a further year of sub specialty training in laryngology. He is the head laryngologist at the Flinders Medical Centre Voice Clinic, Senior Lecturer in laryngology at Flinders University, Visiting Laryngologist to the Royal Adelaide Hospital Voice Clinic and Vice President of the Laryngology Association of Australasia. Theo has significant experience in treating performing artists as well as those with chronic cough and vocal cord dysfunction. In addition he has a large paediatric and adult sleep apnoea practice working closely with paediatricians, sleep physicians, dentists and orthodontists in this field.

Student Members - Student Members must be an eligible and current student member of the DHAA Ltd at the time of purchasing the ticket. Student Membership expires June 30th following your graduation. Student Membership to the DHAA Ltd is Free.

Dietary Requirements - We will attempt to accommodate all dietary requirements.  Please send through any restrictions to chairsa@dhaa.info at least seven (7) days prior to the event.

Cancellation Policy -  Ten (10) days notice must be given in writing to chairsa@dhaa.info , if you cannot attend, to receive a refund. Reimbursements will not be made after this time. Failure to advise of cancellation may result in you being invoiced for the cost of catering. Registration can be transferred to another person of the same membership status.
