Clinical skills required for providing effective & efficient periodontal therapy can be enhanced and strengthened by viewing all instruments as a total unit rather than as separate entities.

This workshop will cover topics such as how to select the best instruments for diagnosis and periodontal assessment through to treatment planning and risk management. Ergonomics and hand positioning techniques will also be covered to help enhance clinical efficiency and minimise stress injuries to the operator.


• Ergonomics

• Periodontal Diagnostic and Assessment instruments

• Efficient use of instruments – Steri pack design (instruments for each kit)

• Using PSR as a treatment planning tool

• Risk management using online tools


Participants will be able to:

• Position hands and body with minimal ergonomic stress

• Choose an efficient diagnostic and assessment armamentarium

• Design instrument packs for most efficient usage

• Understand how to use PSr as a periodontal assessment and treatment planning tool

• Use online modalities to manage risk and supportive periodontal therapy

Course length: 2.5 hours

Jane Rossi is an accomplished and registered dental hygienist with a Bachelor of Vocational Education and Training and a Diploma in Management.Jane’s professional background includes positions as a Senior Lecturer and Program Coordinator of the TAFE SA Dental Hygiene Program, Senior Lecturer in the Bachelor of Oral Health, University of Adelaide, Dental Scientific Liaison with Johnson & Johnson Pacific, Education Consultant with Hu-Friedy and Lecturer TAFE SA Business Studies.Jane’s professional interests lie in professional health practice communication methodology, including smoking cessation, motivational interviewing interventions and effective communication to support and enhance practice outcomes.Jane has been involved in many professional co-curricular activities including the TAFE SA Executive Board, on-line mentorship program, Dental Hygienist’s Association of Australia, Australian Dental Council School Evaluation Teams, and Dental Advisory Boards – industry and higher education.

Cancellation Policy - 10 days notice must be given in writing to chairsa@dhaa.info , if you cannot attend, to receive a refund. Reimbursements will not be made after this time. Registration can be transferred to another person of the same membership status.
