DHAA ACT is proud to host another full day event in iconic Canberra discussing paediatric and perio "LITTLE POPPETS & BIG POCKETS." Join us for what is sure to be a great day.

TIme: 8.00am registration for 8.30am start. Closing at 5pm.

8.30am - A/Prof Richard Widmer - Topics - “The changing face of paediatric dentistry” and “A big issue with a little tissue - soft tissue pathology in children”.

11.00 am - Dr Elise Beachley - Topic - ‘Treatment Under General Anaesthetic for Children through the ACT Dental Health Program’.

Following completion of a Bachelor of Medical Science degree, Hugh completed a Bachelor of Dentistry with Honours in 2009. He then worked as a Dental Officer at the Westmead Centre for Oral Health followed by private practice in Mount Gambier, South Australia. During this time, Hugh completed the primary and secondary examinations becoming a Fellow in the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. In order to pursue a strong interest in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry, Hugh completed specialist training (Doctor of Clinical Dentistry) in Periodontics in 2016 and was awarded the Dentsply award for research in bone augmentation. He is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists, Australian Society of Periodontology and the International Team for Implantology. Away from the clinic, Hugh enjoys spending time with his wife Elise and children Archer and Alicia. He has a keen interest in a wide array of sports, in particular competitive tennis.

A/Prof Richard Philip WIDMER

Richard Widmer received his Master's Degree in Paediatric Dentistry from the University of Melbourne. His paediatric clinical practice over the last 35 years has been at the Westmead Centre for Oral Health and The Children's Hospital at Westmead .

Richard is the A/Prof in Paediatric Dentistry, The University of Sydney, and Head of the Dental Department at The Children's Hospital at Westmead. He is a very active clinician and lecturer, in all Health Sciences as well as presenting at Conferences, both locally and internationally.

Richard is a Past President of the IAPD , the AAPD and the ANZSPD . In 2008 Richard received The Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons , Meritorious Service Award for his contributions to Paediatric Dentistry .

Richard has co-edited both the very popular "Handbook of Paediatric Dentistry" now in its fourth edition ( now in seven languages ) and the booklet ,"Paediatric Dentistry, dental care for children. A guide for parents".

Richard received a " Blue " from Melbourne University , for rowing.


Dr. Adam Rosenberg graduated with a BDS from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa in 1995 and obtained his Masters Degree in Periodontology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill USA in 2003.

Dr. Rosenberg is in a full time clinical private practice in Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Rosenberg has lectured both nationally and internationally on topics relating to periodontal endoscopy, periodontal plastic surgery, implantology and guided bone and tissue regeneration. Dr. Rosenberg is a fellow of the ITI, Board Member of the Melbourne Seattle study club, Australia and New Zealand association of Periodontists, American Academy of Periodontology and Academy of Osseo-integration.


Dr Elise Beachley graduated from Melbourne University in 2004. Since that time she has primarily worked with vulnerable populations in rural, regional and remote Australia. In 2012 Elise returned to her home town of Canberra. Elise has worked extensively with children and adults under General Anaesthetic, IV sedation and relative analgesia. Her current role is ‘Special Needs Dentist and GA/RA Coordinator’ with the ACT Dental Health Program.

Cancellation Policy - Ten (10) days notice must be given in writing to contactact@dhaa.info, if you cannot attend, to receive a refund. Reimbursements will not be made after this time. Failure to advise of cancellation may result in you being invoiced for the cost of catering. Registration can be transferred to another person of the same membership status.
