Description

This half day cultural competency workshop will provide partcipants with an understanding of the unique drivers, complexities and risk factors of problematic substance use for LGBTIQ communities. Participants will gain a broader understanding of best practice in establishing safe and affirming practices, as well as increase knowledge of the context of substance use for particular cohorts of LGBTIQ communities. The workshop will also improve participants' confidence and techniques in working with these communities and provide strategies on how to create an LGBTIQ culturally sensitive workplace.

Presenter: Jeremy Wiggins is Project Lead of Alcohol and Drug Projects and has extensive experience in LGBTIQ capacity building for mainstream service providers.

Who should register? AOD, community and mental health clinicians, social and youth workers, any health professional working directly with LGBTIQ clients

Cost: $110 (payable by credit card only).

Lunch is not provided on the day, however tea and coffee will be available throughout the workshop.

Cancellation policy: If your circumstances change and you no longer can attend this event after you have registered please email training@turningpoint.org.au no later than one (1) week prior to the event to cancel and/or be issued with a full refund. A refund will not be issued if notification has not been received within this time frame and you will be required to pay for the event.
