About this event

This 90 minute workshop is designed to help you consider and document what needs to be done to prepare for an emergency, when you are not able to care for others, as you usually would. This workshop will include the following:

• Why it is important to have an emergency care plan

• What kind of emergencies to plan for

• Who might be able to help in an emergency

• What key information needs to be documented in an emergency care plan

• Practice working through an emergency care plan template.

Navigating an emergency can be very daunting. During this workshop, we will work through a plan, to help you plan ahead and hopefully keep peace of mind. This is an introduction to emergency care planning.

Please note

This workshop will not cover advanced care planning (Advanced care planning is a proactive process that helps individuals prepare for future healthcare decisions, ensuring their wishes are respected if they become unable to communicate them). The focus of this workshop is how to provide continuity of care should something unexpected happen to you.

This is an online event. A link will be provided upon registration.

Technology

This online event will be held on MS Teams. Carers Victoria has previously used Zoom in the past. MS Teams is very similar. To understand more about MS Teams visit the help site Microsoft Teams help & learning.

Who should attend

This session is open to all carers and their families.

Attendance is free, but registration is required.
