Event description

Description

You are invited to participate in a family violence sector consultation led by the Department of Education and Training that will inform the implementation of reforms arising from the Royal Commission into Family Violence.

Background

The Royal Commission into Family Violence released its final report on 29 March 2016, making 227 recommendations. The Victorian Government has committed to implementing all recommendations. These reforms include the development of new legislative regimes for family violence information sharing and risk assessment, and the creation of 17 Support and Safety Hubs. The Department is working with Family Safety Victoria on the implementation of these reforms.

Consultation Aims

The Department has previously conducted a number of consultations with our workforces regarding DET’s response to the Royal Commission into Family Violence, including consultations with representatives from our workforces such as teachers, principals, early childhood and care professionals, school-based wellbeing staff and maternal and child health nurses.

We would now like to convene a specific workshop focused on the family violence sector’s experience of how the education sector deals with family violence.

This will be an opportunity to help inform further efforts to support implementation of family violence reforms within the Department of Education and Training workforces.
