Event description
Creating a sustainable home that is cheap to run and comfortable to live in is easier than you think. Join us to find out how!

About this Event

Are you building a new home or doing a major renovation? Do you want to take local action on climate change but don't know where to start? This session is for you!

Jason Menzies from Be Sustainable will share practical tips that will help you to design a sustainable sanctuary that doesn't cost the earth. This session provides advice that will inspire you to design a beautiful home that makes use of practical features that have stood the test of time.

Households use lots of energy to keep us comfortable so that we can do the things we enjoy. A third of the energy used in our homes is for heating and cooling. Learn how to design a home that will stay comfortable with minimal artificial heating and cooling requirements.

Fun fact: Fans are a cheap option to keep cool in summer. Using a ceiling fan all night uses less than 1 unit of electricity (which costs 29 cents). Jason will provide a range of simple ideas that will ensure your new home stays comfortable throughout the year.

Jason will also cover how to create micro-climates in your garden to reduce energy and water use in your home.

The City of Stirling offers a range of Living Green initiatives to help residents create sustainable sanctuaries in their home. To find out more follow this link.
