Learn about best practice approaches and strategies for facilitating an engaging online class using Zoom.

About this event

This workshop is designed to build confidence in teaching live online classes in Zoom.

Different approaches and tools to actively engage students when in Zoom will be introduced, with strategies for all sized classes. Strategies to prepare, plan, facilitate, troubleshoot and follow-up after live online sessions will also be discussed.

Learning outcomes

  • Participate in Zoom activities as a learner
  • Describe the tools available in Zoom, and identify which tool is appropriate to your learning and teaching goals.
  • Justify your tools choice based on your learning context
  • Predict potential issues and provide solutions to address these.
  • Create your own Zoom lesson plans and activities
  • Facilitate a Zoom activity

Vebica Evans | Learning Environments

When not going quietly mad from working from home, Vebica is your go-to-person for pedagogy and technology enhanced learning advice. Vebica has over 16 years experience working in education across multiple roles from teaching to educational support, across several tertiary institutions. Vebica has special interest in humanising the online teaching experience and loves all things under the umbrella of learning design.

Kate Mitchell | Learning Environments

Kate Mitchell is a learning designer within Learning Environments, supporting staff to move to blended and online delivery as part of FlexAP. She has two decades of experience in education across Higher Education, Secondary and VET in multiple roles including teaching, educational technology support, training and staff development, and learning design. Kate is passionate about authentic assessment, ePortfolio practices, student equity and sustainable approaches to staff professional development.
