Event description

Description

Advances in gene-editing technology to treat disease are a hot topic in science and the media. The power to alter DNA, the blueprint of life, is largely attributed to the discovery of CRISPR/Cas9, a gene editing technique which enables scientists to edit parts of the genome by removing, adding or altering sections of the DNA sequence. As a result, scientists and the public are urging Australian regulators to engage in ethical, legal and social discussion about the enormous potential and implications of this technology.

Join a panel of experts including a doctor, scientist, ethicist, lawyer and a patient as they debate these issues with the ultimate goal of delivering a call to action for Government.

Compere: Wilson Da Silva (COSMOS)
