About this event

Discover how you can craft and deliver high quality formative and graded quiz questions as a part of your assessment strategy.

In this interactive workshop we will unravel the key strategies for designing and delivering high quality quiz questions. We’ll start by looking at where quizzes may fit within a given curriculum and it’s place with an overarching assessment strategy. You’ll see some examples of well-designed quiz questions, as we break down the components of a good question, and offer best-practice advice to ensure effective outcomes are reached. Lastly, you’ll see how you can use some of the tools available in the LMS to support with the design and delivery of quizzes.

This workshop/session will be particularly relevant to staff implementing online quizzes (or as part of the Improving Online Quality LTI grants, but will appeal to anyone considering or already using quizzes for formative or summative assessment.

The intended learning outcomes are:

  • Identify where quizzes are most suitably used as an assessment tool.
  • Design effective quiz questions for the appropriate AQF level.
  • Identify suitable online tools and approaches to using these tools within teams for the design and delivery of online quizzes.

    Nathan Grieve, Learning Environments

    Nathan is a Learning Designer at Learning Environments. He has supported staff across multiple Faculties with their migration to the LMS, and with FlexAp subjects. He is interested in learning new technologies and discovering new approaches to online learning.

    Kate Mitchell, Learning Environments

    Kate Mitchell is a learning designer within Learning Environments, supporting staff to move to blended and online delivery as part of FlexAP. She has two decades of experience in education across Higher Education, Secondary and VET in multiple roles including teaching, educational technology support, training and staff development, and learning design. Kate is passionate about authentic assessment, ePortfolio practices, student equity and sustainable approaches to staff professional development.
