First Speaker: Ronald Hicks – ‘Prince of Wales Hospital Cancer Centre, Randwick, Sydney’

Ronald Hicks is Principal and National Director of Health at HDR. He has specialised in the design and delivery of major Healthcare facilities in Australia and internationally for over 30 years and his portfolio includes the delivery of some of Australia’s most significant large-scale and complex health projects. Ronald will speak about the recently completed Prince of Wales Hospital Cancer Centre, Randwick, Sydney.

This project provides a patient-focused model of care in which cancer research, clinical care and education are integrated to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients, as well as a platform for breakthroughs in cancer research. The facility comprises the Nelune Comprehensive Cancer Centre (NCCC), the Scientia Clinical Research project and Sydney Children’s Hospital Network expansion.”

Second Speakers: Katharina Nieberler-Walker and Cheryl Desha - ‘Normalcy in Healthcare Design: an extension of the natural and built environment’.

Katharina Nieberler-Walker is Principal and Head of Landscape Architecture at Conrad Gargett and Adjunct Industry Fellow in the Cities Research Institute, Griffith University. Cheryl Desha is an Associate Professor and Head of Civil Engineering at Griffith University. Katharina and Cheryl will jointly present their paper: ‘Normalcy in Healthcare Design: an extension of the natural and built environment’.

This paper was presented at the European Healthcare Design Conference in London earlier this year, and was co-authored with Dr Omniya El Baghdadi, Project Coordinator, QUT; Professor Jenny Ziviani, Children’s Allied Health Research, Queensland Health; and Dr Angela Reeve, Visiting Researcher, QUT. The theme of the presentation will be about Sustainable development: designing to promote health and biodiversity Environments that enhance wellbeing and preserve healthy ecosystems.

For Non-Members or Member Renewals - the fee is $100, and we will waive the $75 joining fee and will include membership for 2017/18 and ability to attend all events during this period..
