Event description

Description

Den Hanrahan is a singer-songwriter whose songs tell the stories of modern Australia – from the red dust of the landscape, to the loves and losses of the people that have touched his life. Woven through this rich repertoire are the stories drawn from his own past, finely observed tales from his years living and working across the country.

Steeped in bluegrass, folk and Alt country roots, Den, with longtime musical partner Matt Nightingale on slap bass, Dave O'Neill on mandolin and fiddle, Peter Logue on the squeezebox and Zena Armstrong on the Bodhran (Irish Drum) is now exploring a hybrid style with his band, The Rumrunners. Refusing to be bound by genre and dipping generously into the melting pot that is Australian music, Den Hanrahan and the Rumrunners have taken a new look at their songs and the result is a surprisingly fresh take on roots music.

The band will be touring there new live CD, Smoke and Mirrors, at the Oxley in Cowra, showcasing songs from Den’s 4 studio albums.
