Join Monash University Caulfield on Thursday 17 October for networking dinner and an evening panel discussion on the following:

Key topic Points:

  • What distributed ledgers can and cannot be in terms of current use cases
  • How is Social Media influencing or related to the development of the Blockchain/Cryptocurrency world?
  • How can we move closer to a decentralised technology system and how is this different from EOS or other blockchains?
  • Where does the trust to maintain a distributed ledger come from and how much does it cost to keep this system going in reality?

BIOGRAPHY - SPEAKERS:

Anthony Germanchev leads the Advanced Technologies Lab at the Australian Road Research Board as a consultant and researcher in the road transport industry. He has over 10 years of experience in the safety, productivity and infrastructure impacts of heavy vehicles. Anthony has a strong link to industry and road managers through this experience with high productivity freight vehicles and technology, network access and the development of road transport policy and regulation.

John Vaz is a senior lecturer in the Department of Banking and Finance and teaches mergers and acquisitions and Fintech into all master’s programs at Monash. He holds an MBA and a PhD in Finance. John’s research interests include the Fintech and monetary policy impacts on financial markets, financial institutions and investor behaviour. John has 30 years of experience in general management and finance in the IT and technology sector, having held managing director and general management roles in Telstra, AWA Plessey and Ericsson.

Technologist and entrepreneur Jamie Skella has spent 20 years in the design, building and advising of emerging industry businesses across esports, blockchain, IoT, and even future food. Formerly Head of User Experience at the AFL, Jamie is a part owner of GG EZ Bar - the country's first dedicated bar for a different kind of sport. Jamie's prior startup, Horizon State, won the World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer award for his work in democratic innovation, which was also voted 7 of 100 on a list of world changing companies by The Australian, ahead of Elon Musk’s SpaceX

Joni is a qualified accountant and tax lawyer and has specialised in blockchain and digital assets for the last 3 years. Joni was recently recognised as a thought leader in the legal space, being named a finalist in the 2018 Lawyers Weekly Awards, and the 2019 Blockchain Australia Awards. Early in 2019, Joni participated in the roundtables as part of Treasury’s review into Initial Coin Offerings. Joni is an industry mentor for RMIT Online’s Blockchain Business Strategy course.

Dimaz Wijaya is a PhD student in the Faculty of Information Technology, Monash University. His main research area is the privacy of cryptocurrency. He is also interested in the application of blockchain technology in public sectors, such as taxation. He co-founded Senarai, an Indonesian-based consulting company that provides strategies, insights and cryptocurrency-related solutions
