Event description

Description

In response to the Royal Commission into Family Violence, legislative changes have been made in relation to sharing the information that agencies hold about service consumers.

Since September 2018, state funded AOD agencies are prescribed Information Sharing Entities for the:

  • Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme (FVISS), and
  • Child Information Sharing Scheme (CISS).

VAADA has been commissioned by the Department of Human Services to provide practice guidance to the sector in the application of the FVISS and CISS.

This event is hosted by VAADA and facilitated by Our Curious Minds. This interactive workshop is designed specifically for managers in the AOD sector, responsible for guiding front-line staff in applying the new schemes. This day will provide practice guidance for the FVISS and CISS and use AOD specific case scenarios to discuss:

  • Confidentiality and ethics - understanding general principles and AOD specific ethical considerations;
  • Confidentiality and the law - the wider context of key legislation that prescribe what you must, may and must not do, and how do the FVISS and CISS complement existing legislation;
  • Decision making processes
  • Capturing and recording your information sharing processes

The day will be presented by:

  • Marije Roos, Family Violence Project Lead, VAADA
  • Stephen Taffe, Health lawyer
  • Dr Andrew Carroll, Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist
  • Brett Bridges, Complex Care Specialist
