CHCAGE005 - Provide Support to People Living with Dementia
Dementia Essentials is part of the nationally funded Dementia Training Australia program and is delivered by Alzheimer’s Australia.
Alzheimer's Australia SA can enhance customer satisfaction and wellbeing, and deliver person centred care. The Dementia Essentials Program is fully funded for all staff working with or caring for people with dementia.
This nationally-accredited course is designed to assist workers supporting people living with dementia. Strategies are explored to assist with good communication, planning and developing appropriate activities and understanding behaviours in people living with dementia.
This course is suitable for people working in aged care, health care and community services.
Participants in this workshop will gain an understanding of:
Person-centred care and effective communication;
The nature of dementia and its impacts;
Identifying unmet needs
Understanding changed behaviours and developing effective responses
Activities to promote well-being; and
Workplace issues, community support and services available.
You Must be able to undertake a workplace assessment under supervision, interacting with people with dementia in order to complete the course. The completed competency can be credited towards further study in aged care.
THIS IS A 3 DAY COURSE CONSECUTIVELY ROLLED-OUT OVER 3 THURSDAYS BETWEEN 9.30AM - 4.30PM - Please note that your printed invitation will only state the first of the 3 days.
