Description

Dementia Education & Training for Carers is coordinated by Commonwealth Respite & Carelink Centre Metro North, and is held on a monthly basis.

Dementia Education and Training for Carers (DETC) supports people who are caring for their family member or friend with dementia. The group meet on a monthly basis and hear guest speakers talk about a range of different topics that aim to assist the carer in their role.

Deborah Fleming-Prins from Alzheimers Association will discuss loss, grief and feelings associated diagnosis and caring for a loved one who has dementia.

Thursday, 22 June 2017

Sheila Lapping from Alzheimers Association will discuss the benefits of creating a dementia friendly environment, including how a person with dementia perceives their environment and what can we do to reduce confusion and enhance well-being.

Thursday, 27 July 2017

During this session Bianca Briggs from Heart to Heart Connections will talk about “What you can get from your care package?”

Following morning tea, Bianca will introduce you to the benefits of aromatherapy.

The first topic will be “How to find the right residential facility”

Following morning tea Tess Woodford the West Australian Regional Sales Manager from Regis will talk about Residential facilities.

What can you expect? What should you look for?

All sessions will include time for questions and a light lunch, so please RSVP your attendance for catering purposes.
