Event description

Description

Are millennials history or are they history in the making? These young people who've grown up in the final decades of the 20th century are immersed in a digital world that has shaped their political, social and cultural attitudes.

They are the best educated and most connected generation, but what does their future hold? How are millennials shaping Australia and what will be their legacy?

Join ABC RN Big Ideas presenter Paul Barclay and special guests including:

  • André Dao, writer and human rights advocate
  • Jennifer Rayner, political advisor and author of Generation Less: How Australia is Cheating the Young
  • Holly Ramson, chief executive of Emergent consultancy and intergenerational commentator
  • Frank Bongiorno, cultural historian and author of The Eighties: The Decade that Transformed Australia
  • Tamika Townsend, a Yuin and Ngarigo woman who works in Indigenous Affairs

This event is part of Defining Moments in Australian History. It was developed by the National Museum of Australia in collaboration with ABC Radio National and in conjunction with the Griffith Review Special Edition: Millennials Strike Back.
