Event description

Defence Export Controls (DEC), Department of Defence, is conducting an outreach program to cover the requirements exporters must meet when exporting goods and technology that are controlled, have a potential military end use or could be used in a weapon of mass destruction program. This year we are visiting Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Darwin, Brisbane and Perth.

Our Brisbane program will be held on 24 September at Queensland University of Technology, Kelvin Grove.

Registration opens at 0900 for a 0930 start.

Session 1: Introduction to Export Control Regulations.

Our first session covers the basics of export controls and regulations. This session will introduce the fundamentals and pave the way for discussions throughout the day.

If you are a regular exporter and are familiar with DEC, or attended one of our outreach events in 2018, you may wish to skip the 'Introduction to Export Control Regulations' presentation, and just attend the 'Whole-of-Government' (from 1045am) and afternoon 'Practical Application' sessions. There is no need to advise us in advance, but please ensure you do register during the morning tea or lunch periods.

Session 2: Whole-of-Government

During this session, participants will hear from a variety of government departments and agencies to gain an understanding of the whole-of-government approach to managing exports from Australia.

Session 3: Practical Applications

In our final session, a 'Defence Industry Stream' specific presentation and an 'Academic/Research Stream' specific presentation will be run simultaneously. We ask that participants attend the presentation most relevant to their field.
