Event description
The mysterious disappearance of the Palmer Sinai Expedition

About this Event

Join us for a free public lecture by Dr Jamie Fraser in our series Travellers in Time.

In August 1882, archaeologist-spy Professor Edward Palmer set off into the Sinai desert disguised as a Bedouin chief with 3000 pounds of gold hidden in his saddlebags. He was never seen alive again. In this talk, Dr Jamie Fraser tracks the footsteps of this ill-fated professor and the Palmer Rescue Expedition that was sent to find him, with far-reaching international consequences.

Jamie Fraser is Senior Curator of the Nicholson Collection.
