Description
Deakin University, with support from Google, are excited to present the 2018 ITCO (Information Technology Curriculum Outreach) workshop. Our aim is to develop a repository of learning materials and tools that are aligned with the Victorian Digital Technology curriculum.
Delivering research-supported teaching approaches via an online-first workshop, designed for Victorian educators and their students. The two day workshop will run simultaneously online (for remote participants), and on-campus at Deakin Burwood.
All facilities and materials are available for all participants, regardless of type of attendance. This includes:
- live chat during the workshop
- forums open before and after the workshop, to help you integrate new curriculum into your schools.
- online access to the curriculum on our new curriculum website.
The workshop and curriculum is provided free of charge for Victorian teachers, or teachers in training. All curriculum is explicitly linked to relevant Digital Technologies outcomes.
We really hope you are able to join us, we have a fun couple of days planned! However, if you can not attend the workshop dates and would still like to be given access to the workshop recordings, curriculum, and forum access then register as an online participant.
FAQs
Is the event really free?
Yes! Thanks to Google's funding of the program, Deakin University are able to provide this workshop and all associated curriculum and material free of charge. Find out more about the program at Google.
Who is this targeted at?
Our main focus this year are levels 9 and 10 Victorian Digital Technologies educators, school curriculum leaders, and student teachers. Anyone teaching or preparing to teach other year levels is also welcome.
What is the difference between the online and on-campus workshop?
We know how hard it is for teachers to get Professional Development leave, also there are many schools either too remote or just unable to send staff down to events. As such, we have designed the ITCO Workshop from scratch to support our online participants. We will be live-streaming the workshop over the two days, and we are taking a number of steps to ensure we fully support online participants:
- Capping our on-campus participants to a smaller number to ensure we can appropriately support our online participants.
- All material will be accessible on a brand new workshop website, which all participants will use to access material.
- Dedicated staff to answer live chat.
- Dedicated staff to respond to the forum.
