Mindfulness meditation is one of the simplest and most effective ways to reduce stress.

Feeling overworked or overwhelmed? Is your mind racing at times and you have difficulty concentrating? That tension in your shoulders and back just won't disappear?

Stress is one of the main reasons for physical and mental discomfort or disease. Although mental health is a growing issue for young people, stress doesn't only affect those with ample collagen. The DFSI YPN is offering this session to anyone interested in learning more about mindfulness and the positive benefits that yoga and meditation can have on your body, mind and nervous system.

Mindfulness meditation is known to be one of the simplest and most effective ways to reduce stress. Meditation can help the brain to focus on what’s happening in the present and train it to focus on a single task. It can also help to open creative doorways in the brain and improve problem solving skills - not to mention your overall happiness.

You are therefore invited to join us to learn simple techniques to improve your ability to develop resilience and inner calm in stressful work situations.

About the session:

This session is open to all ability levels - there is no experience needed. No matter what your injury or health condition, you are welcome.

In this one-hour session, you will learn about:

  • The science of stress and its impact on body and mind;
  • The effects of long-term stress and stress responses;
  • Techniques on how to minimise its effect on your body;
  • Breathing practices for stress management; and
  • Additional tools to reduce stress and support overall wellbeing in your day-to-day life.

In addition, you will be offered Restorative yoga, involving gentle yoga postures (asanas) to release tension in your body and cultivate quietness and relaxation in your mind.

The restorative elements are designed to calm and reset your entire body, mind and nervous system to prepare you for ultimate relaxation, Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep). Be prepared for a wellness treat that will leave you feeling rejuvenated and relaxed!

Ahead of the session:

Please bring a yoga mat, an eye pillow –if you have- and a towel that can be used as a cushion to sit on or, alternatively, to cover your eyes. Dress comfortably on the day, in clothes that allow for gentle movement. No need to change into gym gear. Chairs will be provided if you can't get down to floor level - choose this option when you register.
