Event description

Description

Your immune system works hard everyday to defend you from external threats like bugs and viruses, and internal threats like cancer cells. Would you like to learn more about how your immune system protects you, at a free community event?

Perth is home to a number of top scientists that share a common goal; to improve health by learning more about how the immune system works. Join us for an afternoon of immunology to hear from these local researchers about breakthroughs in the field. Hot topics will include cancer immunology from Dr. Joost Lesterhuis and Dr. Jonathan Chee. We will hear from Dr. David Martino about food allergies. Prof. Michaela Lucas will teach us about antibiotic allergies. Dr. Phil Stumbles will discuss the role of the immune system in asthma. And finally, we will even hear about caring for the immune systems of our sick pets by Dr. Claire Sharp.

The Harry Perkins Institute will open its’ doors to the public for this special event, and lab tours of the state-of-art-facilities will be provided from 5pm for all those who are interested. Light refreshments will be provided!
