About this event

Daughters of the West is back for 2022!

What is the Daughters of the West program?

The Daughters of the West (DOTW) program is a FREE 10-week women's health program, for all women over 18 who live and work in the West! This safe and inclusive space, provides women the opportunity to learn and talk about their health, do some physical activity and meet other women from their area.

Each week, for 10 weeks, you will meet in your local community groups for about 2 hours. In the first hour, you will hear from a range of guest presenters who will interactively discuss different health topics, such as nutrition, mental fitness, health screenings and more! The next hour you will get the chance to be active, with some fun, group-based exercise, with our supportive exercise staff offering options for all fitness levels and abilities!

The program is FREE thanks to support from our partners the Victorian State Government and Department of Health. We our proud to deliver the Sebastopol DOTW session in partnership with Sports Central and Ballarat City Council

If you’re looking for an opportunity to pick up some handy tips to improve your health, meet other women in the community, and have a few laughs while you’re at it, then come along and try the 2022 Daughters of the West Program.

What day and time will the program run?

In Ballarat , the Sebastopol session will be delivered on Wednesday morning from 7pm-9pm starting on the Wednesday 13th of July.

Can I bring my kids?

Due to the nature of the health topics covered and to create the much needed break for women to focus on their health, children are not permitted at Daughters of the West.

Commitment and Limited Places:

The Western Bulldogs Community Foundation and program partners are working hard to make sure the Daughters of the West program is available to everyone in the community. With lots of interest in the program, places are likely to fill up quickly so to ensure this free program can be accessed by a range of community members, please consider whether you are able to commit to attending all 10 sessions and/or if you have attended before.

We also ask that you only register for yourself and a maximum of one other person. We appreciate your understanding.

COVID-19 Safety

Please note, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, extra safety precautions will be in place to keep everyone safe. Precautions may include QR code check in, venue capacity limits (smaller group sizes), extra hygiene practices, and an online program option for those that prefer. Participants registering for the in-person program must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

To make sure we are keeping in line with venue capacities, everyone who attends the program MUST have registered via Eventbrite.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Is there a minimum age requirement to join?

Yes. Due to child safety and the nature of content discussed , the Daughters of the West program is suitable for all women aged 18 and over.

Can I sign up for more than one location?

No. Due to COVID-19 and limited spaces in 2022, we ask you only attend the program at ONE location.

Can I sign up for a friend or family member?

Yes, you can sign up on behalf of another person. Just remember, there are limited spaces for the Daughters of the West program in 2022, so please only register for someone else if they are going to attend.

If you can't come anymore, please give us a heads up! You can email foundation@westernbulldogs.com.au and let us know.

What if I miss a week?

Speak to your local facilitator to touch base. You will have access to recordings of the health information sessions throughout the program. There are also a range of social opportunities to catch up with your fellow Daughters of the West participants outside of the session times.

Please note, to be eligible to graduate and complete the program you need to attend at least 7 out of the 10 sessions.

What do I need to do after I have registered?

We will contact you within a few weeks and ask you to fill out a participant information form before the program starts to find out more about your health to help us keep you safe at the sessions and for an emergency contact. If you have any trouble filling out the information form, not to worry, we can help you in week one.

Once you’ve filled in the form, you just need to turn up on the first night with your Eventbrite ticket - don't worry, we will send you an email and text to remind you!

In Week 1 you will have a chance to meet the program staff, meet other participants, and ask any questions you may have so you're ready to go for the rest of the program

It is important you try your best to come along to the first week, because otherwise your spot in the program may be forfeited. If you can't make it in Week 1, please let us know.

Do I have to bring my Eventbrite ticket in Week 1?
