After two long years of covid, lockdowns and restrictions, Date My Mate is finally back!
Let's be real - it can be hard to be single and meet other single Christians. If you're online dating, it's tricky to figure out where someone stands and we think the best way to get to know someone is in real life. That's what this is intended to be. A chance to chat to new people who share your faith.
If that's something you're interested in, come along for a fun and casual evening getting to know other single Christians.
There are some commonly asked questions below to help you decide if this is an event for you.
Do you guarantee that I will meet the love of my life at this event?
No.
Who is this event for?
Single Christians over the age of 25. We haven't put an upper age but this is mainly aimed at singles in their late 20s, 30s or early forties.
What time does the event start?
It starts at 6pm. Please arrive at 6pm. If we all arrive on time, no-one has to stress about arriving early and having to be that first awkward person there. We all know that sucks so please be punctual.
Where is the event?
The event will be held at Grace City Church in Waterloo - it's not an official Grace City Church event, but they have generously provided us with their facilities for use. Non-alcoholic drinks and nibbles will be provided on the night - please note that the venue is an alcohol-free site, so no alcoholic beverages are permitted.
What does the event entail?
The event will give you the opportunity to chat with a number of single Christians - we'll also be having a few fun icebreaker games on the night, to help you connect with the wider group.
What should I bring to the event?
Bring your best chat, a good friend (they can be the same or the opposite sex) to act as your wing man/woman - everyone needs one of those!
What if I meet someone and I want to get to know them better but I am terrified of rejection?
There will be a way for you to leave your details to be passed on to someone if they have also expressed an interest in getting to know you better. But we encourage you to live life on the edge and just have a go at asking them yourself.
Jesus was single and never married. Paul said it was great to be single. Why are you trying to tell singles they have to go to an event like this to try and find someone to marry?
We hope that people only come to this event if they want to come. If you feel content to be single, then please don't feel pressured to come. If you would love to meet someone but (like many of us) are sick of swiping on an app trying to figure out what it means when someone's profile says they are Christian, this is an event for you. There are bigger and more important issues in life but we would still love you to come along and have a good evening getting to know people who are in the same stage of life as you are and just see what happens.
