A daring and enlivening exploration for actors into the play with Actor, Writer and Director Cody Fern.

About this event

This online workshop with actor, writer and director Cody Fern will focus on the great plays that challenge the hearts, minds and perceptions of the audience and players alike.

Throughout history, the theatre has been a stage for revolution. It’s been a space for difficult conversations, for alternative points of view and for the examination of who we are as individuals and as a society.

  • What values do we hold as sacred?
  • What norms do we accept as sacrosanct?
  • Who are we and what are we doing here?
  • In this family, in this culture, in this nation?
  • In the theatre, everything is open for discussion, or is it?
"The choice to truly contend with the ideas of giants is an act of courage. And courage is the cornerstone of the life of an artist."

Cody Fern is an Australian actor, writer and director. Cody was awarded the Heath Ledger Scholarship in 2014 and has since been based in LA working on numerous critically acclaimed projects and training with teachers Larry Moss and Ivana Chubbuck.

Credits include, the Emmy and Golden Globe winning Limited Series: 'American Crime Story, The Assassination of Gianni Versace', Michael Langdon (The Antichrist) and Xavier Plympton in the Ryan Murphy anthology series 'American Horror Story' and Duncan Shepherd in the globally acclaimed series 'House of Cards'. His last job was Father Stu with Mark Wahlberg.

“Cody is one of the most impressive artists I know. His depth of knowledge is inspiring. He has a prodigious work ethic and a curiosity that is boundless. And that is what he brings to everything he does, never taking anything for granted and drawing upon all the influences of the time that informed a writer's life and work." - Kim Krejus, Artistic Director

16th Street provides actors with opportunities to work and meet with the world’s most celebrated professionals, including Larry Moss, Ivana Chubbuck, Nancy Banks, Alan Rickman, Hugh Jackman and Patsy Rodenburg.
