NOBODY PUTS CHARLOTTE IN THE CORNER
Charlotte Squires is a long time dance student of mine, past 'Reach' facilitator and a dear friend. Who this year, at the age of 24yrs of age, has been on a soul shaping journey of healing from a rare cancer, Hodgkinsons Lymphoma.
This dance class is inspired by and dedicated to her.
In January 2017 Charlotte will finish her Chemotherapy treatment. Sometimes in life, it’s when we’re in the homeward stretch that we really need the most cheering along, love, support and party poppers.
Charlotte’s strength and grace has been nothing less than honorable. And although she could have curled up and sat in a corner, like baby, she certainly has not.
I believe dance to be deeply healing, transformative, and a powerful medicine. It was just over a year ago, Charlotte and I used to dance in the dark every week when, as ambassadors, ran No Lights No Lycra together, and like myself, dance is one of her happy places.
We also both have had been through the Reach training Programs. So I am so excited they can host this event.
For a while, I have felt a strong pull to unite forces with people (whether you know her or not) to activate a joyful experience for her during this time. So here it is! An opportunity for everyone to join together, to rise up and dance our asses off for yourself, for her and with her. Why? Because we can, because she can!!
In my many years of choreographing, teaching and facilitating dance experiences, I have witnessed the magic that happens when we unite as a community and engage in a movement with a reason and intention for something bigger than ourselves. It’s deeply rewarding and I can guarantee the feeling will be nothing short of electric.
So on that note, I invite you to step out of your corner and come and light up the room with your moves. If not for your inner dancer, then let Charlotte be your reason.
Let’s flip this so called negative into an empowering, memorable, meaningful, homeward run over the finish line.
Charlotte, JT and myself will see you there.
