Join us for the inspiring story of Damien Thomlinson, a former commando to aspiring Paralympian. Damien’s incredible story testifies the power of courage and optimism against the often unexpected challenges of life. Drawing from his own story of survival in Afghanistan, Damien will share his journey both on and off the war-front and the road to rehabilitation and how he has met the challenges of a building a new career.

Damien is an Australian ex-commando who tragically lost both legs in a bomb blast while serving in Afghanistan. Since then, he has worked to overcome the challenges in his life, regaining his ability to walk, after doctors had said it was unlikely he'd even survive his accident. He is currently aiming to become a paralympian, and to represent Australia in snowboarding at the 2018 Paralympics Winter Games. During this session Damien will motivate and inspire as he discusses how he channels his personal struggles and triumphs over adversary.
